In this January, in Rome, a cooperation agreement was concluded by and between the International Institute of the Energy Policy and Diplomacy of the Moscow State University of International Relations (University) of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIEP (University) in MFA of Russia) and «Maire Tecnimont», an Italian company.
V. Salygin, Director of the Institute, represented the Russian party and F. D’Amato, «Maire Tecnimont» Managing Director, acted as the Italian signatory.
The signing ceremony was participated by A. Meshkov, Russian Ambassador Plenipotentiary in Italy.
This document became the first step of the implementation of the Memorandum concerning the Issues of Partnership for the Purpose of Modernization that was made within the framework of the Russian-Italian interstate top-level consultations in Sochi in December 2010.
According to the Agreement, the parties arranged long-term cooperation in the introduction of advanced technologies to the energy industry and the energy saving programs, to the research of the possibilities of innovation appliance, when the innovations were of industrial significance.
In the Agreement, special attention was paid to the solutions for the global energy problems and to the formation of the global energy space. It was emphasized that the research approaches to increase of the international economic cooperation had to be stimulated.
Among the principal goals of the Agreement there were the personnel training and the human resource development in the spheres of the global economics, finance, international management, modern energy diplomacy and geopolitics.
When speaking at the Agreement singing ceremony, V. Salygin, Director of the MIEP (University) in MFA of Russia, emphasized that the document was a real contribution of the Russian science community and the Italian business to the successful conduct in 2011 of the Year of Russian Culture and Language in Italy and of Italian Culture and Language in Russia.
