29 March 2011
Representatives of Électricité de France (EDF), the biggest energy company in France, will become participants of the MIEF-2011.
EDF is one of the European energy market leaders. The company deals with energy production, transportation, distribution and retail. EDF manages 59 nuclear power plants (18 of them are in France). The greater share of the company (84.6 %) belongs to the state.
EDF actively develops partner relations with the Russian party. In particular, EDF and «Inter RAO UES» (with about 60 % of the share capital owned by «Rosatom») examine the possibility of joint projects in Russia and other countries. Within the framework of the current cooperation, «Rosatom» provides EDF with uranium enrichment services. In 2010, at St. Petersburg International Energy Forum, EDF and «Rosatom» signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement laid the foundation for joint research activities, cooperation in the fields of nuclear fuel and the nuclear power plant units, both operating and being under construction.
