Institute of Problems of Oil and Gas Academy of Sciences will participate in the forum as the General partner of round table “Oil-and-Gas Complex of Russia: Strategic and Investment Aspects of Modernization” and the Director of the Institute, academician of RAS, member of the Program Committee of mief-2013, Anatoly Dmitriyevsky will perform in the role of the Co-Chairman of the event.
At the present time in the world energy sector and the oil and gas industry in particular qualitative shifts that cause change of balance of powers and the role of the leading players on the global markets of oil and gas. These processes are directly linked to the strategic interests of Russia, since the oil and gas sector plays a key role in the national economy. With regard to the new external challenges for improvement of competitiveness of Russian Oil and Gas Complex acquires the status of the priority strategic tasks of state importance.
In this context the participants of the round table will discuss the strategic aspects of the development of the Oil and Gas Complex of Russia in the conditions of the new external challenges. During the meeting will be also discussed numerous internal problems of the complex, among which are the excessive tax burden, lack of investments, depreciation of production assets, the increase in the cost of oil production at the new fields, the high capital intensity of maintaining and increasing production and lack of new technologies for the development of hard-to-reach fields. Special attention of the representatives of the oil and gas business and the leading experts of the industry will be paid to the issues of attracting investments and technological modernization of the Oil and Gas Complex. The concept “investments and innovations plus the resources” will be considered as the key strategic basis to increase the competitiveness of the Russian Oil and Gas Complex.
Academician of RAS A.N. Dmitriyevsky, Director of the Institute of Problems of Oil and Gas Academy of Sciences, is an outstanding Russian scientist, widely known in our country and abroad, who have made a weighty contribution to the development of the Earth Sciences and the oil and gas science and practice. A.N. Dmitrievsky is an authoritative and recognized in Russia and abroad as an expert in the analysis of energy strategies of the development of the global and Russian Fuel and Energy Complex, the participant of the work of the expert groups in the framework of the energy dialogue between the Russian Federation and the European Union.
Institute of Problems of Oil and Gas of the RAS is one of the founders of the Russian National Committee of World Petroleum Council (RNC WPC). The Institute is a structural link of the Russian Academy of Sciences and is a member of the Department of Earth Sciences RAS, which carries out the scientific-methodical and scientific-organizational management of the Institute.
