 MIEF-2011 is officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Energy Committee of the State Duma, the Committee on the International Affairs of the State Duma and the Commission on Natural Monopolies of the Federation Council Commission.
The central theme of the Forum - «Russian Fuel and Energy Complex in the XXI century: the international dimension». Energy today determines the safety and economic development of the world. The world community is facing serious energy challenges such as the growing need for energy resources in the increasing complexity and cost of their production, climatic changes caused by human factors in particular by carbon dioxide emissions. Energy trade under conditions of high volatility in commodity markets does not add optimism as well. And finally, the existing institutions called to regulate and coordinate international energy relations are far from the perfect.
For adequate response to these challenges the international community should reach a new level of interaction and modernize the system of multilateral international institutions in order to minimize risks, eliminate geopolitical confrontation and balance the interests of all participants of the global energy interaction.
Essential processes and trends both in global and national economies will be discussed by the participants of the Moscow International Energy Forum «Russian Energy and Fuel Complex in the XXI century». The exchange of views of representatives of government, business, science and the expert community about the prospects of global energy development and create conditions for sustainable development will take place at the Forum.
The traditional exhibition «Russian Energy and Fuel Complex in the XXI century» will be held in the Moscow International Energy Forum frameworks.
