Russian Ministry of Transport is Going to Join the MIEF-2012

14 February 2012

The Organizing Committee of the X Moscow International Energy Forum «Russian Fuel and Energy Complex in the XXI Century» received a letter signed by I. Levitin, Minister of Transport. The letter reads that the MIEF-2012 is included in the draft schedule of the exhibitions, forums and conferences to be supported by the Russian Ministry of Transport in 2012; MIEF is recommended for attendance of the Ministry’s specialists.
The Ministry of Transport of Russia participates in the Moscow International Energy Forum on regular basis. The transport is one of the most energy-consuming sectors of economy; therefore, this industry regards the energy saving and better energy efficiency of the transport infrastructure as issues of prime importance.
In 2011, the Russian Ministry of Transport developed concepts of environmental safety and energy efficiency in the transport complex. These documents envisage practical and consistent measures to diminish the transport’s impact on the environment. With a view to promote innovative energy-efficient technologies in the transport complex, the Ministry of Transport established relevant expert council and working group. The council brings together representatives of the science, business and sectoral education institutions, while the ministerial working group consists of representatives of the executive and legislative powers. The purpose of both organizations is to pick out new technologies and technical solutions.
All the major Russian transport companies also have energy saving programs.
