The MIEF-2012 Organizing Committee keeps receiving letters from the leading companies of the Russian fuel and energy complex and related economic sectors that confirm their participation in the forum. Thus, OJSC «Russian Railways» is going to act as a MIEF-2012 partner and organize its exposition at the forum. It was said in the personal letter from V.I. Yakunin, President of «Russian Railways» OJSC, to N.I. Ryzhkov, Co-Chairman of the Forum Organizing Committee.
For many years, «Russian Railways» has been a participant and partner of the Energy Forum «Russian Fuel and Energy Complex in the XXI Century». This fact proves the strategic importance of the railway transport as a key segment of the transport infrastructure of the Russian fuel and energy complex; it also demonstrates that «Russian Railways» is interested in constructive dialogue with the authorities and the expert community to establish a stable energy system in Russia. The role of the railway transport as an interlink between the elements of the integrated economic system can hardly be overestimated. Organization of uninterrupted supply of various essential cargoes, such as raw energy materials, solid and liquid fuel and refined products, ensures stable work of the power sector enterprises, the industrial and transport objects.
The railway is a major consumer of electric energy, so this sector regards the introduction of new energy-efficient technologies as one of the first-priority directions. For a number of years, «Russian Railways» has worked over several projects to improve resource-saving in the rolling stock and at the infrastructure facilities. The activities have been guided by the so-called «White Book of OJSC Russian Railways» created in 2007 and updated later. In particular, this document stipulates requirements to new equipment as well as parameters of operational efficiency and energy policy. In October 2010, «Russian Railways» became a laureate of the all-Russian «Save Energy» awards supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
